Akademy 

Akademy is the annual world summit of KDE, one of the largest Free Software communities in the world. It is a free, non-commercial event organized by the KDE Community.

The conference is expected to draw hundreds of attendees from the global KDE Community to discuss and plan the future of the Community and its technology. Many participants from the broad free and open source software community, local organizations and software companies will also attend.

Akademy features a 2-day conference with presentations on the latest KDE developments, followed by 4 days of workshops, Birds of a Feather (BoF) and coding sessions. It is an opportunity to meet key KDE contributors, learn about the latest features and enjoy the great atmosphere. You will meet developers, artists, translators, upstream and downstream maintainers, users, and free and open software industry leaders from all over the world.

Akademy 2025 is a hybrid event, in Berlin, Germany & online from Saturday 6th - Thursday 11th September

September is a warm month in Milan, many events happen in the city during this time and accommodations can be scarce, especially during weekends. Luckily, the Milano Bicocca University is well-connected. You can stay almost anywhere in the city and get to the conference within 30 minutes, or less, using public transport. Read More

Barcelona is a relatively expensive place to stay, you should book as soon as possible since our understanding is prices will only rise. The venue location is relatively well connected by public transport to most of the city, it should not be hard to find an hotel in ~30 minutes distance from the venue. Read More

Akademy 2014 Call for Papers

Akademy is the KDE Community conference. It is where we meet, discuss plans for the future, get inspired, learn and get work done. If you are working on topics relevant to KDE, this is your chance to present your work and ideas at the Conference from the 6th - 12th of September in Brno, Czech Republic. Akademy 2014 Call for Papers

The goal of the conference section of Akademy is to learn and teach new skills and share our passion around what we're doing in KDE with each other. For the sharing of ideas, experiences and state of things, we will have short Fast Track sessions in a singe track section of Akademy. Akademy 2014 Keynotes Announced

Akademy 2014 will kick off on September 6 in Brno, Czech Republic; our keynote speakers will be opening the first two days. Continuing a tradition, the first keynote speaker is from outside the KDE community, while the second is somebody you all know. On Saturday, Sascha Meinrath will speak about the dangerous waters he sees our society sailing into, and what is being done to help us steer clear of the cliffs. Outgoing KDE e.V. Board President, Cornelius Schumacher, will open Sunday's sessions with a talk about what it is to be KDE and why it matters. Read More
